Sailing away with Summer Stamps
What's more summer-y than a nautical theme?
It was a Stampin' Up Makerie Day with the Come Sail Away set! I've been playing around with the papers and stamps to this set today...so so much fun!

The papers I bought that coordinates to the set all work very well together! They are also double sided with different designs on the back.

This is the first craft I've made in the new craft room! I only wish I ordered the coordinating dies to this set..but will add it to my order this month... I managed to free hand cut with scissors around the anchors I had stamped. It would have been much easier with the dies! I attend Stampin' Up classes and the girls there call it "fussy cutting." (Attending stamp clubs and classes are a great way to pick up some unique stamping tips & tricks!)
The inks I experimented with were Smoky Slate and Sahara Sand. I stamped a couple of boats in each ink so I'll have some pieces ready to make more cards in the future. I also used Memento Tuxedo Black for the words. I colored in the boat and sails with markers. I also added some shine with my Wink of Stella brush! I am obsessed with this glittery brush pen! It is mess free, lasts a long time, and adds just a touch of shimmer!

I made this design up as I went along but knew I wanted twine, a boat, and some striped bunting included! I added foam stickers (called dimensionals) behind the bunting flags and boat to give it that 3-D look! I punched a hole through the anchor and tied it onto the top bunting for an extra embellishment.
I think this greeting would be a great graduation card to give! This whole nautical theme is wonderful for graduation, thinking of you, Father's Day, birthdays, and cards for the men in your life! There are SO many card ideas for this stamp/paper set on Pinterest. I can see myself getting a ton of use out of these nautical stamps & papers! My whole house is coastal themed and I love vacationing at the beach!
